mkv on PS3

Hi.

I've recently bought the BubbaTwo server, and I'm having some issues with streaming to my PS3.
(I'm not a debian expert either)

I understand that to be able stream .mkv files, I need to edit my /etc/mediatomb/config.xml along the lines of http://soowei.com/2008/11/27/streaming- ... mb-to-ps3/ but I end up in the "Arguments: %in %out" dilemma. I can't find any unstripped libraries for debian ppc that helps me either. Has anyone with BubbaTwo been able to stream .mkv files successfully to their PS3? If they did, is it worth it? (I don't know if the CPU of the B2 can handle it?)

Thanks in advance..

If you are thinking about transcoding a 720p/1080p x264 mkv on the bubba2 I think you can pretty much forget it. The Bubba2 cpu is slow as it is.

In general you don't need to trans-code the movies, but by some strange reason the PS3 can't handle the .mkv format (I'm not an expert on how media servers works or the protocols used there).
But I know that it generally always works if I just convert my .mkv files into .mp4 files, that is a fairly quick operation as the video and audio streams in the .mkv are just copied to the .mp4 (left unmodified, i.e not trans-coded).

A simple to use program for this is mkv2vob (don't let the name fool you it will create .mp4 files).
