Hybrid setup

Post by shocks »

Hi

I'd like to have the following setup:

Internet-->WiFi Router-->Bubba-->Mac

Is this possible? Bubba is connected to the router through the Wan connection and then the Mac is connected to Bubba through the Lan connection. Bubba is assigned an IP address but it cannot reach the internet. The Mac is saying it cannot get an IP address when plugged into Bubba.

Thanks
Ben

- Bubba LAN-Port has DHCP enabled?
- Does your MAC have auto IP?

Bubba Lan is DHCP. The Mac is DHCP but says it has a 'Self assigned IP address'.

Make sure you don't use the same IP series on Bubba's WAN and LAN setup, this will cause problems. Otherwise I think it should work just fine.

Does Bubba report getting an IP adress on it's WAN interface, from your router?

OK. WAN is now getting an IP address from the router (DHCP) and is on the internet. What should the setup be for the Mac which is connected to the LAN port - 'Obtain IP-address automatically' or 'User static IP address settings' (in Bubba admin tool)? If the latter, I'm not sure what the settings need to be. I don't see a Setup Wizard tab in the admin tool. The Mac is currently set to get IP with DHCP.

Thanks

The LAN should be set to "Use Static IP", and with the 'DNS' and 'DHCP' servers enabled (check boxes checked).

Then your Mac should be able to obtain IP adress from Bubba Two (could require restart of your Mac).
