Can you please explain to me in detail? how you gotten the Tvix to work with Bubba2? with SAMBA config.

I have tried server name as bubba, bubba.local, bubba/storage/video, storage, video etc. but nothing works, PING is ok from the Tvix 6500 mediaplayer.

Yes, essentially correctly.

On bubba:

1. Become root:
su
Provide root password when asked.

2. Modify /etc/apt/sources.list file in your editor of choice. It should look like that after modifying:
deb http://ftp.se.debian.org/debian/ sarge main
deb http://security.debian.org/ sarge/updates main ...

I used this howto with good results:

Don't forget to uncomment Debian repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list file and update the list of packages first (apt-get update).

I'd just like to let you know guys, that your help saved me like a week of backing up of my files. I used the method of 6feet5 with one small change. I stored all the system directories somewhere else instead of just removing them. Like this:
mv /bin /old.system/bin
mv /etc /old.system/etc

I restarted bubba yesterday, after a few months of uninterrupted busy uptime. Sadly it didn't boot completely, the led never stopped blinking. I tried to wait about 1 hour or so and tried again (unplugging and then plugging the power cord again, since the shut down button doesn't work anymore). No ...

I get following error when I try to switch on the printing service through the web interface:

E [03/Dec/2007:22:34:56 +0100] LoadAllClasses: Unable to open /etc/cups/classes.conf - No such file or directory

It can be seen in the /var/log/cups/error_log file.

I tried already yesterday to fill both fields - name and description with something, like "hp" for name and "bubba" for location and I still got the "Adding printer hp failed" message. So it isn't going to help.

I have a problem with adding my printer on bubba through the web interface. Printing through bubba worked many months and a few days ago stopped. So I tried to switch the printing service off and then on.

It didn't help, so next I tried to delete and then add again the printer through "printing ...

It's certainly more important to have an improved torrent client, than the etch upgrade - for me personally too. Nonetheless good to hear, that the etch upgrade is still planned and going to happen soon. No problem for me to wait till Christmas or even a bit longer ...

I wonder if it would be possible/safe just to "dist upgrade" to etch... What do you think?

I assume not, since tor works on the upgrade, but actually why not?
