Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
What is the delay with renewing the domain? Is there anything we can do to help, such as crowdfunding?
The excito domains (including excito.com and excito.org) is owned by B2BCS company in Canada, they are responsible for renewing the domains (I don't have access to that). They don't mind paying ...

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
While you recover the domain, where can we find b3-bookworm-install-1.0.zip?
I have setup install.excito.com to the same location, install files are available at http://install.excito.com/latest/b3/
I don't see the install script in this image here: https://github.com/Excito/bookworm-image ...

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
I only can install Bookworm with 10Gb space.
I want to use the whole disk with Debian bookworm.
As stated in the install.ini file :
## size (default: 10; minimal 8): size of system partition to create in GiB (if applicable). Use 'full' to use
## all the available space.
You need to set size ...

Re: B3 - HDD died, switch to SSD
What OS are you guys running? i am used to run Debian based distros so the Debian image for B3 is most natural if i decide to start tinkering and go down that road.
With the Debian image, will i get the same web user interface, services and experience as with original Excito right after install ...

Re: B3 - HDD died, switch to SSD
Hello,
Thinking of installing an SSD. Is it something i should think about if doing so?
Can i change some settings to prolong the life of the SSD, or some other settings that puts B3/SSD to sleep when it's not needed, fast access time is not of importance in this case.
Using SSD in a B3 is ...

It's much easier to download the bookworm image and remove the image parameter in the install.ini file

I did test the upgrade from a vanilla bullseye install and had no issue. Let us know if you find something !Clive wrote: 29 Jun 2023, 15:17 I just performed the upgrade as listed at the top of the page. My previous B3 install was pretty much vanilla, so I am not sure why it failed.

I've updated the upgrade instructions in the first post with a manual upgrade of the kernel.nmichen wrote: 27 Jun 2023, 16:07 I ran the update track from the previous version and it all went smoothly except for the kernel package where apt believes 1:5.10.xyz is newer than 6.1, so has to force a "downgrade" to 6.1.

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
You need to edit the install.ini file and remove the image parameter. Then the system will switch to rescue modeClive wrote: 29 Jun 2023, 16:34 ..also, just to check, your rescue USB doesn't automatically reformat and re-install the B3 ? I just want to get in there to see what has gone wrong.

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
It's killed my B3, it won't reboot... :( Stays at the purple light, although lots of disk activity beforehand whilst attempting to boot.
Any ideas ? As much as I love my ancient B3, I am not sure how much energy I have to try and fix it....
It's pingable, but I am not able to ssh into it ...

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
Hello and thanks for the feedback.
The error at the end of the installer log is harmless, it shouldn't happen (new bug) and I will correct it later. From what I see in the logs, the install went very good. It's (very) likely that U-Boot is incapable of booting from such a large drive or partition ...

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
Although there is a power symbol next to it, it's actually not a power button. It requires an app to detect its state and do something in response
Technically you're right ; From an hardware perspective, the rear button is a GPIO-wired generic key. However in the B3 DTS it is marked as a power ...
