Re: duplicity fails to make backup and dumps error in log
I have submitted a bug report with duplicity at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/duplicity/+bug/610603
Furthermore, there is a similar and confirmed bug report to be found at deja-dup:

duplicity fails to make backup and dumps error in log
Hi there,
Since recently, I am experiencing a problem with duplicity.
It fails to make a backup and dumps the following error in its log under /var/log/backup/admin/
BTW, my bubba is running the latest update.
What should I do to get my automated backups running again ??? :?

Re: duplicity should use a different directory for every bac
Furthermore, I would like to have one single central duplicity log file to see what backups went wrong and for what reason. Now. one has to manually search for signature files.
I am still learning under the hood here:

Duplicity should use a different directory for *every* backup.
Really, this is such a mess... so many backup volumes in one folder.
Even ls *.manifest takes ages to complete over ssh.
duplicity-full.yyyymmddThhmmssZ folders should be made for every backup containing only volumes to that backup ...

Re: Admin panel button to delete failed duplicity backups
I will explain further:
Since there are so many files in a duplicity directory/backup, using the rm command (via ssh then su) will fail on too many arguments.
You can solve this by using for example

in the admin panel under status, I see how much disk space is free for my bubba 2, but not for my bubba storage add-on disk.

Should one change the default root password?
Should one change the default root password (i.e. excito) as a security measure
because many routers can be hacked?
Or should one leave the default root password in order not to mess up future upgrades etc.?

Re: Need default duplicity GnuPG passphrase for manual restore
Should you need to run duplicity manually at the command line in attempt to recover a partial backup etc., you need to become su in a ssh. The default password for su is "excito" and so is the GnuPG passphrase.

Need default duplicity GnuPG passphrase for manual restore
Intro: How I got into problems:
Being a bubba2 newbie with an additional Bubba Storage drive, I made the mistake of including the entirety of the "storage" directory (where pictures and music are stored by default) to my weekly full backup schedule without any encryption.

Encrypting the whole disk, not only backups
I would like to see easy standard encryption of the whole disk, or at least the /home, /var, /tmp and swap!
This would keep your personal data safe in case of theft.

Add a Document Management System like KnowledgeTree
I would like to see a full-fledged document management system with indexed keywords like http://www.knowledgetree.com/.
Perhaps the open source community version of KnowledgeTree could already be added in the package repository because all it needs is PHP and MySQL!
