Yup - my new B3 does seem to be running Squeeze 'out of the box'

The current datasheet for the B3 claims that it runs "Debian Linux 2.6 (Squeeze)" - so it looks like this is what we get.

Mine is ordered and somewhere in the system waiting to arrive, so I will find out soon

OK, something I did recently has cut the 30 second delay to 4 seconds.

I am not sure what change caused this as I have tried a lot of little modifications to try and narrow down what was causing the problem.

I will keep investigating and post back if I discover anything helpful!

The Bubba is already set up with most, if not all, of what you want.

The normal web-interface that Bubba uses is based on these technologies.

I can't remember if the basic version has MySQL, but it does in the Lenny image and I would expect it to be part of the default setup.

OK, I can see that I probably need to be giving a bit more info...

I have modified the relevant pages of my code to include the following as the first line of the file:
<?php $start_time = array_sum( explode( ' ' , microtime() ) );
and at the very bottom of the file I have:
$end_time = array_sum ...

I take it from the deafening silence since my initial post that this is regarded as "normal" and "acceptable" by Bubba owners and Excito staff.

So far I have been using my Bubba as a glorified NAS, and a slow one at that!

However, I have recently started to use it as a real server - and I have found it unusably slow.

My experience so far with this image.

1) It really is a pain that some USB sticks work for image booting and some just don't - oddly it seems to be cheaper and/or smaller ones that work!

2) With Lenny the Bubba takes _ages_ to boot - not a huge issue as booting should be rare!

Wrapping your hard drive in tape is a really bad idea!

As the Bubba is a Linux server there are plenty of options ant others with more experience will explain below...

However, the new version does have a great feature that I requested a while back - a lock point that will allow a laptop lock to be used to chain it to a desk/floor/wall etc.

First shipments within 2 weeks, but we have a quite long list of preorders that have priority, so perhaps 4-5 weeks right now. Sorry about that, hope you can wait. :)

I would like to see some photos of the unit itself...

It is actually cheaper to buy a 2GB one at £7, or you could really go to town and blow £10 on a 4GB one!
